About the Europa League

The Europa League has a reputation that does not match its status as a second competition. For many clubs it is the only realistic route to a European trophy, and it shows on the terraces: sold-out stadiums on a Thursday night, and clubs that build their season around it.

The format changed in 2024. Instead of groups of four there is now a single table of 36 clubs. Each club plays eight matches against eight different opponents, four at home and four away, which produces a far wider range of fixtures than the old system.

For a visitor that mainly means more choice. Where you once saw the same opponent twice, clubs now face eight different sides from across Europe.

Matches are played on Thursday evenings, usually kicking off at 18:45 or 21:00.

Tickets and hospitality for this competition

We arrange both regular tickets and hospitality for Europa League matches. Availability is generally better than in the Champions League, because demand is lower and stadiums are less often completely sold out. It tightens at the bigger clubs and in the knockout rounds. Hospitality means a seat around the halfway line, a separate entrance and catering before and after the match.

Ticketing and fixture dates

The league phase runs from September to late January, the knockout rounds from February to the final in May. Matches are on Thursday evenings, usually at 18:45 or 21:00.

The draw decides who plays whom. Knockout fixtures are only confirmed a few weeks in advance, so anyone travelling for a specific round needs to book flexibly.

Allow for an overnight stay. After a 21:00 kick-off, travelling home the same evening is usually not possible.
