About Wrexham

The Racecourse Ground is the home of Wrexham AFC, founded in 1864 and the oldest club in Wales. Wales played their first home international on this pitch in 1877, and it is recorded as the oldest stadium in the world still hosting international matches. Since 2020 the club has been owned by two Hollywood actors. The documentary series Welcome to Wrexham then made the club known around the world.

Wrexham are a Welsh club but play in the English league system. After three promotions in a row, the club play in the Championship, the second tier, in the 2026/27 season. Cardiff City and Swansea City are in that division too, so there are Welsh derbies on the fixture list. The old rivals are Chester, just across the border in England; matches against them are called the cross-border derby.

Wrexham is in north-east Wales. The nearest major airport is Manchester Airport, about an hour and a half by train with a change at Chester. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is also nearby. We can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. Because of the compact stadium and the high demand, tickets for Wrexham are often scarce, especially for the big matches. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat.

The Racecourse Ground is on Mold Road, on the north-west side of Wrexham town centre. Wrexham General railway station is right next to it: you walk out of the station and you are at the ground. From the centre it is a ten to fifteen-minute walk. The stadium has four stands. On the south side the Kop is being rebuilt; according to the club it should be finished in 2027, after which the ground will hold just over 18,000.

Hospitality at Wrexham

At Wrexham, hospitality is based in the lounges and corporate areas of the ground. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink in a lounge before and after the match. In a small stadium like this you sit close to the pitch. Because regular tickets are scarce, a package with a confirmed seat is often the surest way to be there, especially for a corporate guest or a group.

  • Regular tickets from € 80 per person (indication)

This is the lowest price per type in our current range. The two figures may come from different fixtures, as prices vary considerably by opponent.

Practical information for matchday

Come well before kick-off; the atmosphere around the ground starts early. The train is the best option: Wrexham General is next to the stadium, and from Chester a train runs about every half hour, with a journey time of around twenty minutes. Parking around the ground is limited. From London Euston the journey takes two and a half to three hours, with a change at Chester. If you fly, Manchester Airport is usually the most convenient choice. We can combine ticket, accommodation and transport in a tailor-made football trip. If you want to make a day of it, the historic city of Chester is a short train ride away.
