The Stade de la Meinau is the home of RC Strasbourg Alsace, the big club of Alsace, who play in Ligue 1. Racing have played here since 1914. The ground hosted a match at the 1938 World Cup, two matches at Euro 1984 and the 1988 Cup Winners' Cup final. With the redevelopment from 2023 to 2026 the capacity grows to about 32,000.

Racing have a loyal following and the Meinau is often well filled. The busiest matches are those against Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille and other top Ligue 1 clubs. A striking feature of the renewed ground is the façade of the south stand: the sun shading is made from fuselage sections of retired Airbus A340 aircraft.

Strasbourg is a lovely city for a football weekend, with the cathedral and the old centre a short distance from the ground. You can get there by high-speed train, or fly into Strasbourg-Entzheim, which is linked to the main station by a train of about ten minutes. We can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. Tickets for ordinary league matches are often available; for the big matches it is different. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat.

The stadium and how to get there

The Stade de la Meinau is in the Meinau district, about 2.5 kilometres south of the centre of Strasbourg and 3.5 kilometres from the main station. Tram lines A and E stop at Krimmeri and Lycée Couffignal, within walking distance of the ground. From the main station or from Homme de Fer in the centre, take tram A; the ride takes less than fifteen minutes. On matchdays an extra tram also runs from the Hoenheim Gare and Rives de l'Aar park and ride sites to the Gravière stop, a ten-minute walk from the ground.

Hospitality at Strasbourg

At Racing, hospitality is based in the new south stand, where the business seats, lounges and boxes are all in one stand. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink in a lounge before and after the match. In a renewed stadium like the Meinau it is a comfortable way to experience the game, especially for a corporate guest or a group.

Practical information for matchday

Come well before kick-off. Travel by tram, as parking near the ground is limited and the roads are busy after the match. After the final whistle the Krimmeri stop can be packed; Lycée Couffignal is sometimes quieter. If you are coming from further afield, Strasbourg's main station is well served by high-speed trains and Strasbourg-Entzheim airport is about ten minutes away by train. We can arrange ticket, accommodation and transport together in a tailor-made football trip. If you want to make a day of it, the cathedral and the Petite France quarter are a short tram ride away.
