Germany has the highest attendances in Europe and the cheapest tickets of any major league. The Bundesliga runs from August to May, with a winter break from late December to mid-January. Most matches kick off at 15:30 on Saturday. One night is usually enough, and the grounds are easy to reach by train.

The Bundesliga does something the Premier League has lost: it keeps tickets affordable and the stands full of people who live there.
Standing terraces are still allowed, beer can be taken onto the terrace, and a ticket costs a fraction of what you pay in England. Average attendances are the highest in Europe, and you feel it.
There is a practical advantage too. Almost every ground is reachable by train, and in the Ruhr area the clubs are so close together that you can sit in two different stadiums in one weekend without changing hotel.
One limitation we should name honestly: our current range for Germany is small. Our supplier has far more English than German fixtures. If the match you want is not listed, ask us for it; through our own contacts more is often possible than what appears online.
The competitions
The Bundesliga has eighteen clubs and plays most matches at 15:30 on Saturday. That is the friendliest kick-off time there is: out in the morning, back in the evening.
The winter break is unusual. From late December to around mid-January the league stops. In England they play extra fixtures around Christmas, so if you want football in that period, look at England.
For European fixtures something important changes in German stadiums: standing areas have to be converted to seating. Capacity drops, and the atmosphere on the terraces is different from a league match.
Practical
The train reaches almost every Bundesliga ground, and in the Ruhr area the clubs are half an hour apart. Driving works too, but on match day the approach is the slowest part.
Do not park at the ground; park in the centre and take public transport. That saves you an hour in traffic afterwards.
In many German stadiums you pay with a stadium card that you top up in advance, not with cash or your bank card. Bear that in mind on your first round.

Frequently asked questions about a football trip to Germany
Can I do a Bundesliga match as a day trip?
From within Germany and the surrounding countries, yes. With a 15:30 kick-off on Saturday you can set off in the morning and be back the same evening. With a night's stay it is calmer and you see something of the city too.
When is the winter break?
From late December to around mid-January the Bundesliga stops. Plan your trip outside those weeks. If you specifically want football around Christmas, look at England, where extra fixtures are played.
Why do you have few German fixtures?
Our current ticket range comes from a supplier who is much stronger in England and southern Europe than in Germany. If your match is not listed, ask us for it; through our own contacts more is often possible.
Is Germany cheaper than England?
Usually yes. Ticket prices and prices inside the ground are lower, and the travel is often cheaper. For a marquee fixture or a European night it rises in Germany too.
Can I really take beer onto the terrace?
In the Bundesliga that is allowed, unlike in England. Payment is often by a stadium card that you top up in advance.
