Because it was designed for athletics, the stands sit a little further from the pitch than in a classic English ground. Stratford is one of the best connected hubs in London, with the underground, rail and the DLR, and the ground sits next to a large shopping centre and the Olympic Park. The stadium and how to get there

The London Stadium is in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London. Stratford station is served by the Jubilee and Central lines of the underground, plus the Overground, the DLR and national rail; from the station it is about a fifteen-minute walk. The ground is designed as a public transport destination, so arriving by car is discouraged.

The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink in a lounge before and after the match. Travel by public transport, as there is barely any parking near the ground and that is by design. Get off at Stratford and follow the signs through the Olympic Park. Bring an ID. If you want to make a day of it, the Westfield shopping centre and the Olympic Park are right next to the ground, and the underground has you in central London in no time.
