Vicarage Road has been the home of Watford FC for more than a hundred years. The club played their first match here in 1922, against Millwall. Since then the stadium has been modernised step by step. The newest stand is the Sir Elton John Stand, named after the singer who was the club's chairman for many years. Opposite it is the Graham Taylor Stand, named after the manager from the most successful period in the club's history.

The most passionate home fans sit in the Rookery Stand, behind one of the goals. The great rivals are Luton Town, from a town a little further up the road. When both clubs are in the same division, that derby is the match of the year. The stadium is compact, so you are close to the pitch wherever you sit.

For a visitor, Watford is easy to reach. From London Euston fast trains take about fifteen minutes to Watford Junction, and a bus runs from Heathrow to the town. We can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. Tickets for ordinary league matches are often available; for the big matches it is different. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat.

The stadium and how to get there

Vicarage Road is on the street of the same name, west of Watford town centre, next to Watford General Hospital. From the centre it is about a ten-minute walk. The nearest station is Watford High Street, on the London Overground line between London Euston and Watford Junction, about a ten-minute walk away. Watford Junction, the main station with trains from across the country, is about a twenty-minute walk. Watford Underground station, the terminus of the Metropolitan line, is further away. There is no car park at the ground itself.

Hospitality at Watford FC

At Watford, hospitality is based in the lounges and corporate areas of the ground. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink in a lounge before and after the match. In a compact stadium like Vicarage Road you then sit close to the pitch in comfort, which is especially pleasant for a corporate guest or a group.

Practical information for matchday

Come well before kick-off and travel by train, as there is no car park at the ground and restrictions apply in the surrounding streets. From London Euston the train gets you to Watford quickly; get off at Watford High Street or Watford Junction and walk the last stretch. We can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport, with a hotel in Watford or in London. If you want to make a day of it, the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, where the Harry Potter films were made, is close to Watford.
