The Stade Maurice Dufrasne is the home of Standard Liège, one of the biggest clubs in Belgium. Around the country it is mostly called Sclessin, after the district where it stands. The stadium opened in 1909 and was largely rebuilt between 1985 and 1999. It hosted matches at the 1972 European Championship and three group games at Euro 2000. It holds around 30,000.

Standard play in the Belgian First Division. The big match is the Clasico against RSC Anderlecht, the greatest rivalry in Belgian football. The Walloon derby against Charleroi is also hugely popular. For those matches the stadium is packed and the nickname l'Enfer de Sclessin, the hell of Sclessin, lives up to its name.

Liège is easy to reach. Liège-Guillemins station has high-speed trains to Brussels, Aachen, Cologne and Paris, and a regional train to Maastricht. We can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. Tickets for ordinary league matches are often available; for the big matches it is different. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat.

The stadium and how to get there

The Stade Maurice Dufrasne is in the Sclessin district, a few kilometres south-west of the centre of Liège, on the banks of the Meuse. The address is Rue de la Centrale 2. The Liège tram line terminates here, at the Standard stop. The tram runs via Liège-Guillemins station and Place Saint-Lambert in the city centre. Sclessin station is a quarter of an hour's walk away, but has no trains at weekends.

Hospitality at Standard Liege

At Standard Liège, hospitality comes under the Royal Standard Business Club. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat in the stand, access to the business areas and food and drink before and after the match. In a stadium with such a distinctive atmosphere it is a comfortable way to experience the game, especially for a corporate guest or a group.

Practical information for matchday

Come well before kick-off. Travel by tram, as Sclessin is a residential area and parking there is limited. On matchdays, from an hour and a half before kick-off the tram no longer runs to the Standard stop; Place Ferrer, the stop before, then becomes the terminus. The car park at the stadium is reserved for parking season ticket holders on matchdays. If you come by train, change to the tram at Liège-Guillemins. We can arrange ticket, accommodation and transport together in a tailor-made football trip.
