When it opened in 2013, the Planet Group Arena was the first newly built football stadium in Belgium since 1974. It is a modern ground with just over 20,000 covered seats, close to the pitch. Until 2023 it was called the Ghelamco Arena; since 2024 it has been the Planet Group Arena.
KAA Gent play in the Belgian First Division and are nicknamed the Buffaloes, after Buffalo Bill's Wild West show, which once performed in Ghent. The club became Belgian champions for the first time in 2015 and went on to play in the Champions League. The biggest match of the year is the one against Club Brugge, the battle between the two big clubs of Flanders.
For a visitor, Ghent is a strong destination: a historic city centre with canals and towers, and a ground that is easy to reach by train and bus. From Brussels Airport a direct train runs to Ghent in about three quarters of an hour. We can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. Tickets for ordinary league matches are often available; for the big matches it is different. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat.
The Planet Group Arena is on Ottergemsesteenweg-Zuid, on the southern edge of Ghent, close to the junction of the E17 and the E40. Gent-Sint-Pieters is the nearest railway station; from there De Lijn buses run to the ground. The historic centre is about a quarter of an hour away by bike. The stadium complex also houses offices, a supermarket and a restaurant.
At KAA Gent, hospitality is based in the business seats, the business lounge and the skyboxes of the ground. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink in a lounge before and after the match. In a compact stadium like this you sit close to the pitch, which makes it a comfortable way to experience the game, especially for a corporate guest or a group.
Come well before kick-off. If you travel by public transport, take the train to Gent-Sint-Pieters and the bus to the ground from there. There is parking at the stadium, but after the match the roads and the nearby motorways are busy. If you are coming from further afield, a direct train runs from Brussels Airport to Ghent; we can combine ticket, accommodation and transport for you in a tailor-made football trip. If you want to make a day of it, the Graslei, the Gravensteen and St Bavo's Cathedral are in the city centre.
For ordinary league matches there is often availability. For the match against Club Brugge and for European nights they go quickly; a package with a confirmed seat gives certainty then.
The price varies by opponent and by stand. This page shows the current from-price per type once we have availability for a match.
Take the train to Gent-Sint-Pieters. From there De Lijn buses run to the ground. By car, the stadium is right by the junction of the E17 and the E40.
The nickname comes from Buffalo Bill's Wild West show, which once performed in Ghent. Supporters adopted the name, and the club crest refers to it too.
Yes. When it opened in 2013 it was called the Ghelamco Arena; since 2024 it has been the Planet Group Arena. For European matches UEFA uses the name KAA Gent Arena.
