Mendizorroza is the home of Deportivo Alavés, known to their own fans as El Glorioso. The ground opened in 1924, making it one of the oldest stadiums in Spanish professional football still in use. It took its current shape in 1998: covered stands all around the pitch, close to the grass. It holds almost 20,000.
Alavés are the club of Vitoria-Gasteiz, the capital of the Basque Country, and play in LaLiga, the Spanish top flight, in the 2026/27 season. The Basque derbies against Athletic Club and Real Sociedad are the matches the city looks forward to; the game against Osasuna matters too. The high point in the club's history is the 2001 UEFA Cup final.
For a visitor, Vitoria-Gasteiz is a quiet, green city with a medieval centre and a ground within walking distance. Bilbao Airport is about 75 kilometres away and the city has rail links with Madrid and Barcelona, among others; we can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. Tickets for ordinary league matches are often available; for the big matches it is different. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat.
Mendizorroza is on the Paseo de Cervantes, in the south-west of Vitoria-Gasteiz. From the railway station it is about one and a half kilometres, a fifteen-minute walk. The medieval centre is a little further, but that is also easy on foot. If you would rather not walk, take the city bus: Tuvisa routes 4, 6 and 8, among others, stop near the ground. For big matches Tuvisa runs extra buses.
At Alavés, hospitality is based in the corporate seats and suites of the ground. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink before and after the match. In a compact ground like Mendizorroza you sit close to the pitch; that makes hospitality a comfortable way to experience the game, especially for a corporate guest or a group.
Come well before kick-off and travel on foot or by bus, as parking near the ground is limited. For busy matches extra buses run to the ground and back. If you are flying, Bilbao Airport is the obvious choice; from there a bus runs to Vitoria-Gasteiz. The city also has a small airport of its own, about nine kilometres away. We can arrange ticket, accommodation and transport together as a tailor-made football trip. If you want to make a day of it, the medieval centre around the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca is a good place to start.
For ordinary league matches there is often availability. For the Basque derbies and the matches against Real Madrid and Barcelona they go quickly; a package with a confirmed seat gives certainty then.
The price varies by opponent and by stand. This page shows the current from-price per type once we have availability for a match.

El Glorioso is the best-known nickname of Alavés; the fans still use it today. Babazorros comes from Basque and literally means bean bags, an old nickname for the people of Álava. At the club it has become a badge of honour.
