The Stade du Pays de Charleroi is the home of Sporting Charleroi, the Zebras, named after their black and white striped shirt. The club play in the Belgian top flight. The ground opened in 1939 as the Stade du Mambourg and got its current name when it was rebuilt for Euro 2000. England and Germany, among others, played a group match there at that tournament. Later the capacity was reduced to just over 14,000.
The match everyone looks forward to is the Walloon derby against Standard Liège. The stadium is full then and the atmosphere is at its peak. Because the ground is compact, you are close to the pitch wherever you sit.
Charleroi is about an hour by train from Brussels, and Brussels South Charleroi Airport lies to the north of the city. We can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. Tickets for ordinary league matches are often available; for the big matches it is different. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat.
The Stade du Pays de Charleroi is on the Boulevard Zoé Drion, on the eastern side of the centre of Charleroi, in the area once known as Mambourg. Janson metro stop is right next to the stadium and is served by lines M1, M2, M3 and M4. From the Place Charles II, in the upper town, it is about a ten-minute walk. From Charleroi-Central station, formerly Charleroi-Sud, it is a walk of just over twenty minutes, or a few stops on the metro.
At Sporting Charleroi, hospitality is based in the business seats and lounges of the ground. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink in a lounge before and after the match. In a compact stadium like this you are close to the pitch, which makes it a pleasant choice for a corporate guest or a group.
Come well before kick-off and, if you can, travel by metro or on foot, as the area around the stadium is busy on matchdays. There is an underground car park on the Boulevard Zoé Drion. Direct trains run from Brussels to Charleroi-Central, and a bus runs from Brussels South Charleroi Airport to the same station. We can combine ticket, accommodation and transport in a tailor-made football trip. If you want to make a day of it, the upper town around the Place Charles II is within walking distance of the stadium.
For ordinary league matches there is often availability. For the Walloon derby against Standard Liège and European nights they go quickly; a package with a confirmed seat gives certainty then.
The price varies by opponent and by stand. This page shows the current from-price per type once we have availability for a match.
Take the metro to Janson stop, right next to the stadium. From the Place Charles II it is about a ten-minute walk, from Charleroi-Central station just over twenty minutes.
It holds just over 14,000. For Euro 2000 the stadium was temporarily larger; the upper tiers were taken down again afterwards.
The nickname comes from the club's black and white striped shirt. That is why supporters call their club les Zèbres.
