The Cardiff City Stadium is the home of Cardiff City, the biggest club in the Welsh capital. The stadium opened in 2009, close to the site of the old Ninian Park, where the club played for almost a hundred years. In 2014 the Ninian Stand gained a second tier, and since then the ground has held just over 33,000. The Wales national team also play here regularly.
As a Welsh club, Cardiff City play in the English league system, and in the 2026/27 season they are in the Championship. The club's nickname is The Bluebirds. The match that matters most is the South Wales derby against Swansea City. Then the ground is full and the atmosphere is at its height.
For a visitor, Cardiff is a compact capital with a castle in the centre and a ground that is quick to reach by train. Cardiff Central has direct trains to London Paddington, a journey of about two hours, and Cardiff Airport is just over half an hour from the centre by train and shuttle bus. We can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. Tickets for ordinary league matches are often available; for the big matches it is different. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat.
The Cardiff City Stadium is in the Leckwith area, on Sloper Road, close to the site of the old Ninian Park. Two small railway stations are within walking distance: Ninian Park, about a five-minute walk away, and Grangetown, about ten minutes. From Cardiff Central the train gets you there in a few minutes. On foot from Cardiff Central it takes about half an hour. Bus routes 1 and 2 and 95 and 95A run from the centre to the ground.
At Cardiff City, hospitality is based in the lounges of the ground, with the Captains' Lounge as the top level. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink in a lounge before and after the match. In a stadium of this size it is a comfortable way to experience the game, especially for a corporate guest or a group.
Come well before kick-off and travel by train or bus. Parking at the ground is limited and the car park may close before kick-off. After the match it is busy at Ninian Park; Grangetown or the walk into the centre is an alternative then. If you are coming from further afield, Cardiff Central, with direct trains from London, and Cardiff Airport are the obvious arrival points. We can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. If you want to make a day of it, Cardiff Castle and Cardiff Bay are close by.
For ordinary league matches there is often availability. For the derby against Swansea City and other big matches they go quickly; a package with a confirmed seat gives certainty then.
The price varies by opponent and by stand. This page shows the current from-price per type once we have availability for a match.
By train from Cardiff Central. Ninian Park station is about a five-minute walk from the ground, Grangetown about ten minutes. Bus routes 1, 2, 95 and 95A also run from the centre.
