Pittodrie has been the home of football in Aberdeen since 1899, and the ground of Aberdeen FC, the Dons, since the current club was founded in 1903. In 1978 it became the first all-seater stadium in Britain. According to club history, the dugout was also invented here in the 1920s. It holds just over 20,000.

Aberdeen are the only Scottish club with two European trophies: the Cup Winners' Cup and the European Super Cup, both in 1983. The biggest matches of the season are against Rangers and Celtic, and against Dundee United, the rivals from the 1980s. Then the ground is full and the atmosphere is at its peak for the year.

Aberdeen lies in the north-east of Scotland. The airport is about 10 kilometres from the city centre, with international flights among its routes, and trains run from Edinburgh and Glasgow. We can also put together a tailor-made football trip, with ticket, accommodation and transport. Tickets for ordinary league matches are often available; for the big matches it is different. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat.

The stadium and how to get there

Pittodrie is on Pittodrie Street, about one and a half kilometres north of Aberdeen city centre and a few hundred metres from the beach and the North Sea. From the station and Union Street you walk via King Street to the ground, a walk of thirty to forty-five minutes. If you would rather take the bus, routes 1 and 2 stop on King Street and route 13 stops on Golf Road, both within walking distance. There is little parking around the ground; the club's own car parks are for permit holders.

Hospitality at Aberdeen

At Aberdeen, hospitality is based in the lounges and suites of the ground, including the Richard Donald Stand, the large two-tier stand. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink in a lounge before and after the match. It is a comfortable way to experience the game, especially for a corporate guest or a group.

Practical information for matchday

Come well before kick-off and dress warmly: with the wind off the North Sea, Pittodrie is one of the coldest grounds in Britain. Parking is difficult, so walk or take the bus. After the final whistle King Street gets busy, so allow for some waiting time. If you fly to Aberdeen, the Jet 727 bus runs from the airport to the bus and railway station in the city centre. We can include that part of the journey in a tailor-made football trip, with ticket, accommodation and transport.
