The EFL Cup, also known by its changing sponsor name, is England's second cup competition. It is interesting for a visitor because top clubs often field young or rotated sides in the early rounds, and because the matches are played midweek in grounds that are less full than usual.

That makes it one of the few ways to see a major English club without going through the ticketing of a league fixture. The atmosphere is different: quieter, but far more accessible.

From the later rounds that changes and interest picks up sharply. The final at Wembley has its own distribution, through the two finalists.

For EFL Cup matches we arrange regular tickets and, where clubs offer it, hospitality. In the early rounds many clubs have general availability, including sides whose league fixtures are out of reach. Bear in mind that the date is only fixed once the round has been drawn.

The competition is a knockout: each round is drawn, and only then are the ties and dates confirmed. Matches are played midweek, usually on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Because the draw happens round by round, a fixture can only be secured at relatively short notice. In the early rounds that is not a problem, as availability is usually there. From the quarter-finals onwards, booking earlier is advisable.
