The Champions League produces the matches a whole season builds towards. For a visiting supporter it is the chance to see a club from another country inside its own ground, in an atmosphere that differs from a league fixture: the anthem before kick-off, a fuller stadium and often an opponent who only comes around once every few years.

The format changed from the 2024/25 season. Instead of groups of four, each club plays a series of matches against varying opponents in a single league phase, followed by the knockout rounds. For a visitor that mainly means more variety in opponents and a longer run-in to the closing stages.

In practice this is the hardest competition to get tickets for. Clubs receive a limited allocation and give it to their own season ticket holders first. What is left goes quickly, and for the biggest fixtures nothing reaches general sale at all. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat, so you can commit to a trip before it becomes clear whether anything will be released.

For Champions League nights we arrange both regular tickets and hospitality at clubs across Europe. Hospitality is more often the only realistic route here than for league fixtures, simply because the regular allocation goes to the club's own support. Two things to watch. The matchday is either Tuesday or Wednesday, but which of the two is only confirmed shortly beforehand, so allow for both evenings when booking flights. And in the knockout rounds the opponent is only known after the draw, while travel usually has to be booked before that.

The match rounds are set out a season in advance, but the detail of which club plays on which evening follows later. The knockout stage is drawn, and only then are the ties and dates known. For a visit that means the earlier in the competition, the more certain your planning.

Ticketing runs entirely through the clubs. They distribute their allocation among season ticket holders and members in whatever order they choose. UEFA only sells tickets for the final, through a public application that closes months in advance.

Book as early as you can. For the league phase a few weeks to a month ahead is normal; for the later rounds demand is higher and earlier is better.
