The Riverside Stadium was one of the first modern grounds to rise in England after the 1990s, and it symbolises the revival of Middlesbrough as a club. Its setting by the River Tees, in an industrial environment that reflects the identity of the area, gives the ground its own character.

The Riverside Stadium is north-east of the centre of Middlesbrough, by the River Tees. From Middlesbrough station it is about a ten to fifteen-minute walk. By car you follow the A66 towards Teesside and then the signs to the ground; there is limited parking at the ground itself and at nearby sites.
