The Estádio D. Afonso Henriques is the home of Vitória SC, the club of Guimarães. The stadium bears the name of Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal, who also features on the club crest. It opened in 1965 and was renovated in 2003 for Euro 2004, where it hosted two group matches. Since that redevelopment it has held just over 30,000.

After Benfica, FC Porto and Sporting, Vitória have the largest following in Portugal and draw big crowds on average. The big match is the Minho derby against Braga, the neighbouring city a short distance away. When one of the three big clubs visits, the stadium is full too and the atmosphere is fierce.

Guimarães is a compact city with an old centre on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The nearest airport is Porto, about 50 kilometres away; we can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. Tickets for ordinary league matches are often available; for the big matches it is different. We arrange official tickets and hospitality with a confirmed seat.

The Estádio D. Afonso Henriques is on Rua de São Gonçalo, about a kilometre from the historic centre of Guimarães. From the centre and the castle it is a fifteen to twenty-minute walk. The railway station is on the south side of the city; from there you walk through the centre to the stadium. Trains from Porto leave from São Bento and Campanhã.

At Vitória SC, hospitality is based in the business seats of the stadium. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink before and after the match. For the derby against Braga and the big clubs from Lisbon and Porto, it is a comfortable way to experience the game, especially for a corporate guest or a group.

試合当日の実用情報

Come well before kick-off, as the entrances get busy for the big matches. Walking from the centre is usually the easiest option. If you travel via Porto, the stopping train from São Bento or Campanhã takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to Guimarães. If you want to make a day of it, the castle, the Paço dos Duques and the old squares are within walking distance.
