El Molinón is the oldest professional football ground in Spain. Real Sporting de Gijón have played here since 1908, on the site of an old watermill that gave the stadium its name. Since 2018 it has also carried the name of Enrique Castro "Quini", the top scorer in the club's history. The stadium hosted matches at the 1982 World Cup and now holds just over 29,000.

In the 2026/27 season Sporting play in the Segunda División, the second tier of Spanish football. The match of the year is the Asturian derby against Real Oviedo, who play in the same league this season. Then El Molinón is full and the atmosphere is at its peak.

Gijón is a pleasant port city on the Atlantic coast, with a city beach within walking distance of the stadium. Asturias airport is about 40 kilometres away, with a bus link to Gijón. El Molinón is on the River Piles, by the Parque de Isabel la Católica, about two kilometres east of Gijón's historic centre. San Lorenzo beach is on the other side of the park. From the centre, city buses 1 and 10 run to the Las Mestes stop, close to the stadium. Routes 4 and 26 also stop nearby. Gijón railway station is just over three kilometres away.

At Sporting, hospitality is based in the palcos and corporate seats of the ground. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink before and after the match. In a historic stadium like El Molinón it is a comfortable way to experience the game, especially for a corporate guest or a group.

Come well before kick-off and travel by bus or on foot, as parking near the ground is limited. A walk from the centre along San Lorenzo beach and through the park is a lovely route to the stadium. If you fly into Asturias airport, a bus runs to Gijón; the distance is about 40 kilometres. We can put together a tailor-made football trip with ticket, accommodation and transport. If you want to make a day of it, the old Cimadevilla quarter and the harbour are a short distance from the centre.
