The Estadio de Vallecas is not a big stadium, but it is one of the most distinctive in Spain. It sits in the middle of a working-class neighbourhood, among the blocks of flats. There is no stand behind one goal, so from your seat you can see the homes of the neighbourhood. The ground opened in 1976 and holds almost 15,000.

Rayo are the club of the Vallecas district, with a strong identity of their own and a passionate following. The Madrid derbies against Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid are the highlights of the season. Because the ground is small, the crowd sits close to the pitch and the atmosphere is intense.

For a visitor, Madrid is an ideal destination: a large, lively capital with museums, squares and plenty of good restaurants, and a ground that is easy to reach by metro. The Estadio de Vallecas is on Avenida de la Albufera, in the Puente de Vallecas district, about five kilometres south-east of the Puerta del Sol. Metro line 1 stops at Portazgo, a few minutes' walk from the ground. The same line runs directly from Sol and Atocha, so you do not need to change from the centre. Several bus routes also stop nearby. The stadium is owned by the Comunidad de Madrid, the regional government.

At Rayo Vallecano, hospitality is based in the better seats and the reception areas of the ground. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink before and after the match. In a small stadium with such an intense atmosphere, availability is limited. A package with a confirmed seat is then a comfortable way to experience the game, especially for a corporate guest or a group.

試合当日の実用情報

Come well before kick-off and travel by metro, as parking in the busy streets around the ground is difficult. Little hot food is sold inside the stadium itself; there are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance in the neighbourhood. If you want to make a day of it, the Prado, the Retiro Park and the Plaza Mayor are a short ride away on metro line 1.
