The Holstein-Stadion is one of the oldest football grounds in Germany. Holstein Kiel have played here since 1911 and became German champions in 1912. In the 2024/25 season the club played in the Bundesliga for the first time. In 2026/27 Holstein Kiel play in the 2. Bundesliga.

The ground is compact, with plenty of terracing close to the pitch. The club are known as Die Störche, the storks. Since the summer of 2026 the stadium has been redeveloped in phases during the season into a modern ground for more than 22,000. Until then capacity is lower and demand for tickets is high.

Kiel is on the Baltic Sea and easy to reach by train: a direct train runs every hour from Hamburg, and the Kielius bus runs from Hamburg airport to Kiel. The Holstein-Stadion is on the Westring in the north of Kiel, about three kilometres from the old town centre and just over four kilometres from the main station. Bus route 91 stops at Am Stadion and takes less than twenty minutes from the centre. On matchdays route X91 also runs as a shuttle bus from the main station, from two hours before kick-off until after the final whistle. Other bus routes stop at Hanssenstraße, a short walk away.

At Holstein Kiel, hospitality is based in the business areas of the ground. The difference with a regular ticket is the seat and the service: a good seat, a separate entrance and food and drink before and after the match. In a small stadium where tickets are scarce it is a reliable way to experience the game, especially for a corporate guest or a group.

試合当日の実用情報

Come well before kick-off and travel by bus, as there is little parking near the ground and the redevelopment makes the area busier than usual. On matchdays route X91 runs from the main station to the stadium. If you are coming from further afield, travel via Hamburg: the train gets you to Kiel in about 1 hour and 20 minutes, and the Kielius bus runs from Hamburg airport.
