The Voith-Arena is on the Schlossberg, high above Heidenheim an der Brenz and right next to Hellenstein Castle. The old Albstadion was renovated in 2009 and 2010 and expanded step by step until 2015. It now holds 15,000, of whom more than half on terracing. You will still often hear the name Albstadion.
1. FC Heidenheim go back to a sports club from 1846. The football club in its current form has existed since 2007. In 2022/23 Heidenheim won the 2. Bundesliga and were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time; in 2024/25 Heidenheim played in the Conference League. After relegation in 2025/26 the club play in the 2. Bundesliga in the 2026/27 season.
Heidenheim is on the railway line between Ulm and Aalen; in Ulm you change to the fast trains to Stuttgart and Munich.
