Estrela da Amadora play at the Estádio José Gomes in Amadora, a city directly north-west of Lisbon. The ground opened in 1957 and holds just over 9,000. It stands in the Reboleira district and is therefore also known as the Estádio da Reboleira. You reach it on the blue metro line, terminus Reboleira, or on the Linha de Sintra train. The Estádio José Gomes is the home of Estrela da Amadora, the club from Amadora right next to Lisbon. The ground opened in 1957 and holds just over 9,000. In 2026/27 the club play in the Primeira Liga, the top division in Portugal.
The original club was founded in 1932 and won the Taça de Portugal in 1990. After financial problems that club ceased to exist in 2011. The current club was formed in 2020 and plays in the same stadium again, under the same name. Its nickname is the Tricolores. The ground is compact; wherever you sit, you are close to the pitch.
For a visitor, this is a different side of football in Lisbon: small, intimate and easy to reach by metro from the centre. You fly into Lisbon airport and continue by metro to Reboleira. The Estádio José Gomes is in the Reboleira district of Amadora, a city that borders Lisbon to the north-west. Reboleira metro station is the terminus of the blue metro line and within walking distance of the stadium. From Restauradores in the centre the journey takes about 25 minutes. The Linha de Sintra train also stops at the same station.
