Old Trafford has been home to Manchester United since 1910 and wears that history openly. It is the biggest club stadium in England and still looks from the outside like a ground that grew rather than one that was designed: the stands were extended in stages, and it shows.

The matchday starts in the pubs along Chester Road and Sir Matt Busby Way, which fill from two hours before kick-off. The atmosphere inside varies with the state of the season, but on European nights and for the big derbies Old Trafford remains one of the most imposing grounds in the country.

Club tickets are effectively out of reach for visitors. Season ticket holders and members take priority, and the small remainder disappears within minutes. Manchester is around an hour's flight from the Netherlands and compact enough to attach a match to a short stay, with the tram reaching the ground from the centre in about fifteen minutes.

The stadium and how to get there

Old Trafford is on Sir Matt Busby Way in Trafford, roughly three kilometres south-west of Manchester city centre. Metrolink trams stop at Old Trafford and Wharfside, both a few minutes' walk away; from Manchester Piccadilly the journey takes about fifteen minutes. Walking from the centre along the canal takes around forty-five minutes. Manchester Airport lies south of the city, about half an hour away by road.

Hospitality at Manchester United

Manchester United offer official hospitality across several lounges and club levels, largely in the main stand around the halfway line. The difference from a regular ticket is position and service: a central seat rather than high in a corner, a dedicated entrance, and lounge access with a meal and drinks before and after the match. For business guests what matters most is that a group sits together with time to talk before kick-off.

Practical information for matchday

Arrive two hours before kick-off; the surroundings and the pubs along Chester Road are part of the visit, and the last tram before the match is packed. Afterwards the tram platform clears slowly, so walking back towards the centre is often quicker than queueing. Premier League kick-off times move regularly for television, sometimes only a few weeks ahead, so leave room when booking your return. In the city itself the Northern Quarter and the Science and Industry Museum are within walking distance of each other.
